Call for Papers: Wealth and Entrepreneurship: Interdisciplinary Perspectives

14.10.2026|12:32 Uhr

On 8–9 April 2027, the University of Wuppertal will host the research workshop “Wealth and Entrepreneurship: Interdisciplinary Perspectives.”

The workshop focuses on the reciprocal relationship between entrepreneurship and wealth: How does wealth shape access to entrepreneurial opportunities, financing, and influence? And how does entrepreneurship contribute to the creation, distribution, and concentration of wealth?

The workshop brings together scholars from different disciplinary, theoretical, and methodological backgrounds. We particularly welcome contributions on topics such as wealth inequality and entrepreneurship, venture capital and investor influence, family wealth and intergenerational wealth transmission, social closure in entrepreneurial ecosystems, and the role of political and institutional conditions.

We are delighted to welcome Céline Bessière, Paris Dauphine University (PSL University), as keynote speaker.

Submissions may take the form of extended abstracts of approximately 1,000 words or full papers. Work in progress is explicitly welcome.

Submission deadline: 15 November 2026

The workshop is organized within the Volkswagen Foundation-funded project Capital Cities: Understanding Wealth Concentration in the Startup Ecosystems of Berlin and Paris.

Further information is available in the full Call for Papers and on the project website.
